Mission - Naomi H. Truman Scholarship Foundation

The Naomi H. Truman Scholarship Foundation, an instrumentality of HABD, is a 501(c)(3) established in 2012 by the former executive director, Naomi Truman. Originally called the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District Scholarship Foundation, it was renamed in 2018 after Truman’s passing to honor her legacy.

Mission:

The Foundation confidently strives to provide academic financial assistance for residents of the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District by providing financial assistance to those looking to pursue higher education or learn a trade.

Vision:

The Foundation’s vision is to bring about positive change for individuals and families in our communities by cultivating a community of scholars to be the thought leaders of tomorrow.
